FaceSwap is an entertainment app for applying AI face swap effects to photos and videos. We care about your privacy, and we only use your information with your permission. This policy explains how we handle your data.
By installing or using FaceSwap, you agree to this Privacy Policy, which works together with our Terms of Use. We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our operations or in the law.
When you choose a photo or video to edit, we use it to deliver the effect you selected. We access only the files you choose — never your full photo library. We do not need the metadata attached to your files, and where possible we remove data such as location tags before processing.
To swap a face, our system detects faces in your file and creates a temporary technical representation of facial features. This exists only while your file is being processed and is deleted as soon as your result is ready. We do not use it to identify you, we do not store it, we do not share it, and we do not sell it.
If you live in Illinois, Texas, or Washington, this information may count as a biometric identifier under your state's law. We collect it only with your consent, use it only to create the effect you requested, and destroy it immediately after processing.
We do not collect your contacts, your precise location, or health data.
We use the photos, videos, and face data you provide only to power the app's editing effects. Other information may be used to:
Your photos, videos and face data are never shared with advertising partners or sold to anyone. They are handled only by the service providers who host and run the app for us. Those providers act on our instructions under contract, and are not permitted to use your content for their own purposes. A list of these providers is available on request.
We may share non-visual data — device information, advertising IDs and usage data — with analytics providers, advertising partners, and professional advisers. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
We protect your information using encryption in transit and at rest, and we limit access to staff who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but if a breach occurs that puts your data at serious risk, we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it. Just email us at [email protected] and we will respond within one month. We do not charge for this and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your data, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (www.aki.ee) or to the authority in your own country.
If you are in the United States, you can opt out of us sharing your data for targeted advertising. Decline the tracking prompt when the app asks, or turn tracking off in your device settings at any time. We will not deny you service for opting out.
FaceSwap is for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete it. If you believe a minor is using the app, contact us at [email protected].
Creating sexual content, content showing minors, or content that impersonates or deceives is prohibited by our Terms of Use, and accounts that do so are permanently banned.
If content made with FaceSwap shows you without your permission, report it to [email protected]. Reports involving intimate imagery are treated as urgent and handled within 48 hours. Tell us where the content is, confirm that it was created or shared without your consent, and give us your contact details. We will not share your identity with the person you reported.
The app may include links to other websites or services. We do not control their privacy practices, so we encourage you to read their policies.
If we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes we will let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
FaceSwap is operated by MATU OÜ, a company registered in Estonia, which is the data controller responsible for your personal information.
